ABSTRACT : Backgraound. Diarrhea is a significant disease which causes morbidity and mortality in developing countries. It affeks children youngger than five years about one million episodes every year. In Indonesia irrational use of drugs remains a problem. Mortality in diarrhea patient is frequently due to the failure of management that includes prevention of dehydration properly and corection of electrolyte balance. The results in Peru and Indonesia showed docters used drugs more frequently to manage diarrhea than liquid and electrolyte with ORS and to prevent as well as manage dehydration. The pack shows in appropiate application of WHO and hospital guide lines frequently happents. Interobserver disagreement in diagnosis and therapy may result in appropiate management of dehydration, which is in contras to standart medical service.
